On behalf of Sandgate Cemetery Trust, welcome to our website.

Sandgate Cemetery was opened in 1881 and has serviced the burial needs of Newcastle to this day.

The Trust, appointed by the New South Wales government for a period of five years, is committed to ensuring that the cemetery continues to be maintained and managed to a standard acceptable to the Newcastle community.

Sandgate Cemetery is a public asset and the Trust welcomes your suggestions on ways to improve the facility.

I would encourage you to do so.

We have endeavoured through our virtual cemetery website to bring Sandgate to the world by facilitating the searching of burials, locating the grave in Google Earth and then to view photographs of the grave and its monument.

We trust that this tool will not only assist those with a mobile device, able to visit Sandgate, to find the graves of any family, friends or other graves of interest to you but bring Sandgate to the world of others.

We have also provided a meeting place within our Sandgate Community Forum for familes to communicate and connect.
